Construction continues to make strong progress at the future Maritime|253 Skills Center, with the project now nearing completion and both interior and exterior elements coming together.
Work on the building is approximately 90 percent complete, with crews transitioning toward finishing work this spring. Inside, classrooms, labs, and hands‑on learning spaces are taking their final form, while exterior features further define the look and function of the facility.
Made possible by the 2020 school construction bond approved by Tacoma voters, Maritime|253 is located on a 21.1‑acre site owned by the Port of Tacoma, alongside the Port’s new Maritime Business Center. Construction of the Port Business Center is also underway, with construction finishing in Spring 2027. Together, the two facilities reflect a long‑term commitment to preparing students for in‑demand maritime and skilled trades careers.
Maritime|253 is expected to open this fall, with move‑in activities taking place over the summer as the space is prepared to welcome students and families for the start of the school year.
