Our Pharmacy Technician students are gaining real-world experience through hands-on learning in the lab. Today’s lesson focused on practicing essential pharmacy skills, including medication preparation, accuracy, and following proper safety protocols. These industry-aligned experiences help students build confidence and develop the precision and professionalism required in healthcare settings.
We still have a few open seats in our Pharmacy Technician program for 2026-27. Visit our website for more information: www.ConnectWithNEWTech.com

Celebrating excellence from the NCTA Fire Science program.
NCTA Fire Recruit Aaron Ubben (Lynden High School) traveled to Ellensburg this past weekend to compete in the 2026 Washington NASP Bullseye and 3D Competitions, delivering an outstanding performance.
Aaron earned first place in both events, continuing a remarkable record of success. He also placed first in both competitions in 2025 and currently holds the title of reigning NASP National Champion.
Beyond competition, Aaron is a dedicated member of the afternoon Fire Academy, consistently demonstrating the discipline, focus, and leadership expected of future first responders. His performance reflects both individual commitment and the strength of the Fire Science program.
We are proud of his accomplishments and excited to see what he achieves next.

A few weeks ago, students stepped onto the floor of the The Boeing Company's Everett Factory for the SkillsUSA Washington Manufacturing Assembler State Competition—and delivered. ✈️
From hands-on assembly projects to resume reviews and mock interviews, students demonstrated the technical skill, professionalism, and career readiness that define SkillsUSA. We’re proud to see these future professionals rise to the challenge in a real-world setting.
Congratulations to this year’s medalists:
1st – Omar S., Decatur High School (Federal Way Public Schools)
2nd – Ankhbayar M., Sumner High School (Sumner-Bonney Lake School District)
3rd – Andres V., Sno-Isle TECH Skills Center
Thank you to Boeing and Core Plus Aerospace for hosting this incredible experience and investing in the next generation of skilled professionals.

Preparation is underway for Saturday’s STEM CAMP! 🚀 SVT Advanced Manufacturing students are mass-producing laser-cut toy kits for our K-8 campers. It’s a perfect blend of high-tech demonstration and hands-on assembly. Great work, students! 🛠️📠 #STEM #Manufacturing #SpokaneValleyTech #CentralValleySchoolDistrict #WeareSVT #SVT
(Pic 1) Shift Start: Student leaders Nick and Sal lead a project briefing to align the team on production requirements for our upcoming STEM CAMP. Developing these "soft skills" is just as critical as mastering the machinery in our CTE programs.
(Pic 2) It’s more than just laser cutting; it’s about the process. Advanced Manufacturing Students are developing the production workflow and setting up stations to handle our K-8 mass-production challenge.
(Pic 3) Troubleshooting 101. ⚙️ When the laser doesn't go all the way through, the hand tools come out! Our students are working hard to refine this batch and get everything perfect for our campers.
(Pic 4) Lesson learned: An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of hand work! 🛠️ After some extensive hand-finishing on this batch, our Advanced Manufacturing students have officially seen the value of dialing in and testing laser settings before hitting "start" on a mass production run.

We are proud to share that Torre has accepted a welding internship in Arizona with Copper World, a major Hudbay copper mining project near Tucson that is advancing as part of the domestic copper supply chain. He will begin this opportunity immediately after graduation, taking the next step from classroom and shop learning into the industry. #connectwithnewtech

New Market Skills Center students got a one-of-a-kind experience during the Month of the Military Child with a special visit from an Army National Guard Blackhawk helicopter right on campus!
Students had the opportunity to explore aviation up close, connect with National Guard members, and learn more about careers through a career fair-style presentation.
This event also served as a meaningful reminder to recognize and thank our military-connected students for the sacrifices they make in support of their families’ service. 💜

Behind every successful SkillsUSA chapter is an advisor who shows up, leads, and believes in their students every step of the way—and this year, we’re proud to recognize Rob Anderson of Pierce County Skills Center as our Advisor of the Year.
Rob’s impact goes far beyond the classroom. Through mentorship, encouragement, and real-world preparation, he helps students build confidence and discover what they’re capable of. His dedication is shaping not only skilled professionals, but future leaders.
Thank you, Rob, for everything you do for your students and for the SkillsUSA Washington community. 👏

Students Working Hard to Prep for AMES Showcase
Students in both classes are preparing capstone projects that showcase the skills they’ve developed throughout the year. Working in student-led teams, they are creating animated short films and original video games inspired by a prompt from the Advanced Media Entertainment Society. This year’s theme, “Everything has a price…,” challenges students to think creatively while applying technical and storytelling skills.
All projects will be entered in the statewide competition this spring. Join us for a special preview of NCTA’s entries at the historic Lincoln Theatre in Mount Vernon. See below for registration details.
Walking into FBLA State like...
On Tuesday, students made a tunnel of celebration to send FBLA off in style 🎉
They will return today around noon and we can't wait to hear their results! Also, Mr. Smith we see you trying to hide on the bus photo.🤣

These are the stories we love most at NEWTech; students stepping into our programs, realizing their pathway, and finding success in their careers.
Nathan Erlandsen, a 2020 NEWTech graduate, stopped by class last week. He has gone on to become a world-class GM technician and now works at GMC at Riverfront Park, where he is already earning a six-figure salary.
We are proud him and to have been part of the process for his career growth and success. #connectwithnewtech
