Students from WaHi and SEATech traveled to Spokane to compete in the SkillsUSA Carpentry Challenge. The competition put their skills to the test as they built a structure in just four hours using provided tools, materials, and blueprints given at the start of the event. Walla Walla students had great success, securing the top two spots in the competition: 🥇 First Place: Oliver Ma 🥈 Second Place: Tyler Martonick These two outstanding students are now moving on to the state competition. Amazing job, everyone!

Continuing a newish tradition, the first semester SVT Geo Guessr (yes it is spelled like this) Championship took place over lunch in Mr. Robbins room. It came down to the final round where sophomores Elan Eva and Nate Moss took home the major award of a giant rice crispy treat. There will be a semester 2 championship, so on Monday everybody starts off fresh. This game is fast paced, fun, and educational. It plops players in different areas using Google street view - can be local, world, etc. Then using the mouse to move around and using context clues, players must guess where they are. The closer to the location, the more points are awarded. Oh yeah and it's timed!! Because it is done in Robbins’s class, it is for Sophomores and Seniors, so Freshmen and Juniors start practicing for your shot next year! It can be anybody's game. Nice work Elan & Nate...you are up on your geography! This is one of the many ways we build community at SVT where mixed grade levels are involved. Thanks for bringing this to our students, Mr. Robbins! #svt #wearesvt #stemschool #stemeducation #geography

Another amazing program collaboration as our Pre-Vet Tech students visited our preschool to introduce their animals. You would be surprised how many preschoolers loved the Ball Python and the Bearded Dragon!

Advanced Biomed went to Broadway Elementary yesterday and taught a lesson to Mrs. Quinn's 5th grade class. The lesson was on the digestive system. Students played bingo as students shared information about the organ system and healthy food choices. Then the kids interacted with paper people and organs and finally participated in a relay race that ended with waste (bean bags) going into the toilet (basket). Students were talking about it today how much fun they had fun with the younger students. Great job, Innovators! #svt #wearesvt #advancedbiomed #biomed #stemschool #stemeducation

We had an eventful 4 day week! First shown: HOSA sponsored Vitalant Blood Drive. You can still donate on behalf of SVT (see last slide for more info), but you MUST use SVT's code/link. 11th Humanities: American Revolution debates which is always a fun lesson to see our students get into this. The topic: the great breakup (North American Colonists can no longer tolerate their relationship with the British). Ms. Nielsen's 9th gr Biomed dissected sheep hearts and her 10th gr Human Body Sciences dissected sheep brains. Wow, what an educational hands on activity! Our students did a MLK Jr activity that included learning about the 1963 Children's March, also known as the Children's Crusade, which was a pivotal event during the Civil Rights Movement in Birmingham, Alabama. It was a peaceful protest involving thousands of Black schoolchildren who marched to challenge racial segregation and discrimination. Fire Science was doing a fun simulation outside that included forced entry, ventilation, etc. Our CyberPatriot had a competition today...more to come soon. #svt #wearesvt #innovators #svtinnovators #stemschool #stemeducation
