♟Our chess club had a pizza party last week! Dustin B is the president and started it this year. They meet every Thursday after school in Mr. Traxler's class. You can still join if you want! The club is about to have a chess tournament.
While our school may be small, we are mighty in clubs! Having connection with other students is important to SVT and we often do that in our afterschool activities/clubs. @spokanevalleytechstem

About Cascadia Technical Academy:
Cascadia Technical Academy offers tuition-free career and technical education in 18 program areas where jobs are in high demand. High school juniors and seniors receive college preparation and can earn college credits as well as certifications and licenses specific to their industry.
We serve over 29 high schools, private schools, and home schools in Southwest Washington. As an extension of the high school experience, more than 1,300 students choose Cascadia Tech to improve their earning potential through advanced career and technical training. Cascadia Technical Academy operates as a cooperative that includes ten partner districts (Battle Ground, Camas, ESD 112, Evergreen, Hockinson, La Center, Ridgefield, Vancouver, Washougal, and Woodland).
The governing board of the cooperative is comprised of the ten district superintendents known as the Superintendents’ Administrative Council. The council meets regularly to establish policy, approve programs/budgets, review progress towards goals, and evaluate the cooperative director. In the absence of cooperative policies, the school Board policies of the host district (Evergreen Public Schools) establish our operating rules.
Cascadia Technical Academy realizes and values the critical importance of partnerships with businesses, organizations, and individuals in achieving the school's mission. Cascadia Technical Academy does not receive any bond or levy funds. Partnerships strengthen Cascadia Technical Academy and these relationships play an important role in continuing the success of our students.

We have ASB meetings twice a month lead by ASB advisor Mrs. Loncon and her team of delegates: Drew (president), Parker (treasurer), Chloe (vice president), Rebecca (press secretary), and Sam (secretary). In addition, classrooms have representatives that attend the meetings.
ASB mimics US government procedures.

Recently the Bellevue High School Automotive program took 6 students that qualified in regional competition to compete as SkillsUSA Washington State Competition for both Automotive Maintenance and Light Repair and Automotive Service categories. They had 3 students in each category with the automotive maintenance and light repair being designed for 1st year students and the automotive service designed for the advanced and 2nd year students in the programs. At regionals Bellevue took 4 out of the 6 podiums with 2 others placing just outside of 3rd and were still invited to compete at the state level.
At State competition, Bellevue Automotive had a great experience and represented our program well. With the more advanced category being Automotive Service, Bellevue Automotive Year 1 student Slater Swart placed 2nd in the state of Washington against all other high school and skills centers that competed. This is a very challenging competition for the students to compete in, consisting of industry member interview process, written test and hands-on stations judged by dealership industry professionals. WANIC and Bellevue Auto Tech instructor Mr. McIalwain are very excited for Slater to have placed 2nd ! Congrats to team Bellevue HS Auto Tech SkillsUSA competitors: Joseph Poon, Slater Swart, Gage Metcalf, Mr. McIalwain, Harrison Hoffman, Riley Palidar, Devin Farrington.

Connor, one of our Pharmacy Technician students was recognized today by the Snohomish Education Foundation and Kusler’s Compounding Pharmacy, as he is currently completing an apprenticeship at Kusler’s as a part of his experience at Sno-Isle TECH! He gave an amazing speech, explaining how this opportunity has really prepared him for real world experiences. As Connor said during his speech, “Nothing we have learned at Sno-Isle is “just because” and everything has value.”
We are so happy to have this partnership with SEF and Kusler’s to provide these great opportunities to our students!
He has gained knowledge during his time at Sno-Isle TECH & Kusler’s that will help prepare him for his future career, “My future plans are to get my Pharmacy Technician License, work as a Pharmacy Tech and go to college. I want to be a Fire Fighter & Paramedic.”
We wish you the best of luck, Connor!

Money & Business students are participating in a guest speaker series where they get to show off their networking abilities. As part of their final project, students are responsible for organizing a field trip or bringing in a guest speaker related to Money & Business. The guest speakers are leaders that help conceptualize money management, leadership skills, and community engagement.
Evin brought in a familiar face to the MVSD community as Dr. V stopped by to talk about his new role as the Superintendent for Northwest Educational Service District 189. He spoke about the value of education, how strong leaders rely on their own team, and the power of authentically listening.
