We had 47 prosepective students join us for today's Tuesday Tours! Students explored programs, met instructors, and got a firsthand look at the hands-on learning that makes NEWTech so unique.

In the commons, we have our FORGE/career & college wall. On the FORGE wall, it tells what each letter means as well as examples of how an exemplary student would act. As a reminder: F is focused, O is organized, R is respectful, G is gracious, and E is eager.
Underneath, you can also find helpful college and career information designed to support students as they explore future pathways, set goals, and take confident next steps toward their post-high-school journey. Students can also connect with our counselor, Miss L. Lewis to talk post high school!

Our Vet Assisting students at NewTech Prep had a great week of hands-on learning with help from our instructor’s cats. Year 1 students were introduced to basic feline handling and vitals, while Year 2 students helped guide and build on those skills.
Over the weekend, a few students also had the opportunity to assist at a local veterinary clinic during routine exams and procedures—an amazing real-world experience. #connectwithnewtech

Wonderful night at the Fire vs Law Hockey game on Saturday night. We had a great group of students and staff handing out information and meeting the public. Law Enforcement is working on Teen Target Zero (reducing teen traffic deaths) and Firefighting & EMS had Sparky the Fire Dog and handed out general Tri-Tech information. Thank you to Leah Salmon-Conroy of Providence for presenting Stop the Bleeding Training with Adv Manufacturing and BioTech this am. She's also an alumni mom, so it's great to have her back!
This training teaches how to control life-threatening bleeding until professional medical help arrives...a very important skill to know in general, but also especially for our students working around big machinery and other science related tools.

Our Firefighting and EMS students and staff spent Saturday morning with the Badger Mountain Trail Master and a group of volunteers clearing additional space on the Skyline Trail. The group used their wildland hand crew skills to quickly widen the trail and remove dangerous obstacles in the such as larger rocks, etc. They plan to be out next weekend to finish the rest of the work. At the beginning of this school year, our Gesa credit union branch moved out of Mrs. Warren's old class to the commons (right in front of Mr. Smith's class). This allows our branch to be more student facing. Students can open real accounts and get a special SVT Debit card through our branch.
Our Gesa student intern this year is junior Jax Taylor; he actually works at a real Gesa branch after school too. Other student tellers include Sophia Chay, Adam Murphy, Charolette Futrell , Peyton Ward, Lucas Nierenberg, and Jason Foreman. Gesa often partners with our school,as well as other local schools in the community, and we so appreciate their support. They provide pizza sometimes for us that is associated with different fiscal educational events, provide prizes for drawings, etc.
The second photo, Gesa provided the prizes for our Halloween day drawing. Winners were Ash Newton (orange cloak) and Drew Crese (white shirt). The other students in the photo were some of our tellers, previously mentioned.
