Our Construction students are hard at work building a mock-up house that will be used by our Fire Science program for live fire demonstration training.
This cross-program collaboration gives students real-world experience in framing, planning, and building structures — while also supporting hands-on training for future firefighters.
We love seeing our students’ skills come together to strengthen learning across NCTA. Great job, Construction crew! 👏🏠🔥

Our CJ students have been practicing proper handcuffing techniques, focusing on safety, communication, and professionalism. Hands-on training like this helps prepare them for real-world scenarios in the criminal justice field.
Great work CJ students!

Maritime|253 will serve learners across the South Sound
Tacoma Public Schools and the Port of Tacoma are teaming up to build Maritime|253, a state-of-the-art Maritime Skills Center designed to prepare students for the real-world demands of the maritime industry. Located within the Port of Tacoma, this facility—set to open in 2026—will offer hands-on, career-driven training at no cost to students from multiple school districts.
Maritime|253 is not a high school: it’s a regional Career and Technical Education (CTE) center where students will take advanced, industry-focused courses alongside their required high school classes. Whether heading straight into the workforce, pursuing apprenticeships, or continuing to two- and four-year colleges, Maritime|253 equips students with the skills, training and knowledge to succeed in the maritime industry.
About the Project
The Maritime|253 Skills Center is being developed as part of a Port of Tacoma waterfront campus and operated by Tacoma Public Schools.

What an incredible week! Our Student-Led Conferences were a truly powerful experience for students, families, and staff alike. The pride, reflection, and ownership our students demonstrated were inspiring — hearing them share what they’ve learned, how they’ve grown, and what they’re striving for next reminded us all why this model matters. 🌟
A huge thank-you to everyone who helped make these moments possible — your intentional preparation, encouragement, and care created such meaningful spaces for families to witness authentic student growth. You could feel the energy and connection across every campus. 💙
And a special shout-out to Linton and the families who came out on Friday evening after a scheduling mix-up — what an awesome show of dedication and support! 🙌
This is truly the heart of NCTA. 💚

This weekend, NCTA was buzzing as our students jumped into the annual DigiPen Game Jam Plus event with the Seattle Indies! More than ten of our Video Game Development students spent the entire weekend on campus—fueled by pizza, snacks, caffeine, and just the right amount of sugar—collaborating in a global game-development challenge!
After receiving their prompt Friday at 6:00 p.m., students began collaborating with a quick Zoom kickoff to brainstormed ideas. Saturday and Sunday they met in person on campus working all day, pushing through with incredible focus and creativity, to produce an early version of Monster Dash!
🎮 Play their game here: https://norcat-games.itch.io/monster-dash
A huge shout-out to Jason Pasimio for making this opportunity possible and for supporting our students through an intense, high-energy, real-world experience. Way to go, Jason and the team! Thank you!
