Our Summer Academy is rolling! Yesterday we had Ryan Pascal come in to teach our health career students about surgical processing. They learned how to don PPE, wash and sterilize surgical equipment, and package and wrap surgical instruments. Giving our students a chance to see another career opportunity.

Recently Chef Schiebel's Baking and Pastry students presented some amazing treats. YUM! Baking & Pastry is a skill center program offered by Northshore School District at Bothell High School.
Carson and Lily of the Criminal Justice program at the Northwest Career & Technical Academy met with members of the Mount Vernon Police Department Integrated Outreach Services Division (IOS). The students presented them with a poster of appreciation and thanked them for the amazing service they provide the citizens and visitors of Mount Vernon.
The students also wished to thank the members of IOS for their support of the Criminal Justice students at the NCTA.

Each team partnered with a local business and a "coach," developed a concept, and pitched their final product to a panel of judges from the district and community.

NCTA Student Animators
Two hardworking students from our Animation & Graphic Design Program created some informational flora/fauna cards as part of a Leadership Skagit group event. We received a request for specifically designed cards, which the students worked on. The quality is outstanding! The cards highlight PNW animals and plants with a QR code linked to information. The information is available in multiple languages. They will be used at a family sponsored event in Washington Park later in June.

The last 2 months the CBTECH Fire Science students pushed hard to complete the 5 classes needed to have their Red Cards and be certified Wildland Firefighters! Over 40 hours of instruction and physical training went into their final field day with GCFD5 digging line, throwing fire shelters, back-burning fields, and completing a 3 mile 45 lb pack test in just 45 minutes, but they all did it! 4 students from this class have already been hired by local strike team and will be headed out soon to start the 2025 Wildland Fire season! Keep them in your thoughts this summer.
