🐕🦺 K9 Demo for NCTA Students!
NCTA Vet Tech and Criminal Justice students had the opportunity to watch an exciting K9 demonstration from handlers with the Sedro-Woolley Police Department and the Skagit County Sheriff's Office.
Students learned how highly trained K9 teams assist officers in locating evidence, detecting substances, and supporting law enforcement in the field. It was a great hands-on look at how teamwork between officers and their K9 partners helps keep our communities safe.
A big thank you to the officers and K9 teams for sharing their time and expertise with our students! 👮♂️🐾

These essential infection control procedures help ensure the safety of both patients and dental professionals. We’re proud of the dedication and professionalism our students are demonstrating as they get ready to step into real-world clinical settings!

This week, our NEWTech Dental Assisting students had the opportunity to visit the EWU Department of Dental Hygiene on both Tuesday and Thursday. Students toured the clinic, observed learning in action, and gained a clearer picture of what the next level of dental training can look like.
Experiences like this give our students valuable exposure to postsecondary pathways while reinforcing the skills and knowledge they are building here at NEWTech. It was a great week of learning, connection, and seeing future possibilities in the dental field.

Some Criminal Justice students got to participate and get tased last week, with parent consent of course, to see how it feels to submit a perpetrator using this tactic. Other students had the opportunity to get 2nd hand exposure to pepper spray, an eventful experience as well. It’s never a dull moment here at CBTECH.

Ms. Buratto's Environmental Innovations students went to snow school last week. Led by Kat and Jacob from The Lands Council, students trekked to the top of Mt. Spokane to analyze the snow pack. Usually the snow depth is 60-70 inches, but this year, there is a mere 24 inches of snow. The snow pack feeds the Spokane River, providing electricity, irrigation capacity, and recreation for people, and crucial habitat for numerous other species.

Saturday officially kicked off construction on an 800 sq ft ADU project in partnership with our community. One of our Construction Careers students represented West Sound Tech at the ceremony.
Lumber was delivered Friday, and now our students will begin building the walls in our shop at West Sound Tech. Once completed, the walls will be transported to Raab Park and set in place on site.
Proud to give students real-world, hands-on experience while making a difference locally.

Another former NEWTech student finding success in college.
Nabaa, a NEWTech graduate from the Class of 2022, is now a junior in the Dental Hygiene program at Eastern Washington University. We love seeing our graduates continue their journey and succeed in healthcare careers. #connectwithnewtech
