October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month
October 10, 2025

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month — a time to highlight the importance of protecting personal information and practicing safe online habits. Walla Walla Public Schools is committed to promoting digital citizenship and ensuring that students and staff have the tools and knowledge to stay secure in today’s connected world.

The district has taken important steps to safeguard sensitive student and district data by implementing two-step verification and providing phishing awareness training. Staff and students are encouraged to use strong, unique passwords and to think carefully before clicking on unfamiliar links or attachments to avoid phishing scams.

“By working together, we can build a culture of cybersecurity awareness that keeps our students, staff, and community safe,” said WWPS Cybersecurity and Help Desk Engineer Steve Rinehart. “Thank you for making cybersecurity a priority.”

Teaching Academy students toured North Fork Elementary Schools. They had a chance to do learning walks in the classrooms. Students were able to connect their learning from the classroom to live K-4 grade levels.

Meet **Kaynoni George**, a proud **West Sound Tech Esthetics graduate** who’s been thriving in the beauty and wellness industry since completing the program in **December 2022**!
After finishing the high school program and part of the college program, Kaynoni earned her esthetics license in January 2023 and she’s been making glowing results happen ever since!
💆‍♀️ You can now find her at Melt Massage + Skincare on Bainbridge Island, where she’s been part of the team for over two years, helping clients feel confident and cared for. Kaynoni has developed a true passion for continuing education, especially when it comes to ingredient formulation, skin chemistry, and working with acne-prone and sensitive skin types.
✨ “What I enjoy most about my esthetics career is the opportunity to connect with new people and create safe environments where clients feel supported.” — Kaynoni George
Kaynoni credits the Esthetics program at West Sound Tech for helping her find her confidence, overcome challenges, and build the structure and motivation she needed to succeed.

Maritime Technology students are working on the anatomy of vessels by building a vessel of their own as well as doing presentations on the different types. We are also working on mapping skills which includes how to find the distance between two ports only using longitude and latitude. Lastly, we are working on basic math skills and tying different types of knots and their use.
