🔥In our 👨🏽🚒Fire Science & EMS class, the dollhouse burn is one of the most powerful demonstrations we use to help students visualize how fire behaves. This scaled-down structure allows us to clearly observe fire dynamics, including heat movement, smoke layering, ventilation effects, and how quickly conditions can change inside an enclosure.
One of the most important lessons from a dollhouse burn is the concept of the flow path - the route fire, heat, and smoke take as they move through a structure. Even in a small model, it becomes obvious how opening a single door or window can dramatically intensify fire spread and change interior conditions within seconds.
For firefighters, understanding these principles isn’t optional - it’s essential. Recognizing flow paths, anticipating fire behavior, and making smart ventilation decisions directly impact crew safety, fireground efficiency, and survivability for anyone inside the building.

Engineering students at Wa-Hi put their design skills to the test in this semester’s Bridge Building Challenge. Teams worked together to design, construct, and then stress test their bridges — loading them up until they finally gave way!

Thank you to all the parents and students who joined us for our CBTECH Open House a few weeks ago! We loved having families on campus to see firsthand what students have been working on this year.
Each program opened its doors, with teachers available to share details about their curriculum, hands-on projects, and career pathways. It was a great opportunity for families to ask questions, explore classrooms, and connect with our amazing staff.
We also had a translator on site to support families needing language assistance, ensuring everyone felt welcome and included.
And of course, our CBTECH Café was open and serving delicious hot and cold drinks, along with fresh café goodies made by our students!

Another WOW Firefighting & EMS Saturday!
Thank you to Benton County Fire District #1 and the Regional Fire Academy for a great day of learning for our students. They were able to observe fire behavior, as well as fire attack for a house fire, a dumpster fire and a car fire. Students were taught how to use a thermal camera and other apparatus. Our EMT students and Support Services students helped at the firefighter rehab station. They took vital signs and helped to ensure the firefighters were healthy enough to return to their training. What an amazing learning experience thanks to our region's fire and EMS agencies. #CTEskillsforreallife #tritechskillscenter
